Buffalo Sabre Andrew Peters in FJC PSA
In his first public service announcement (PSA) for The Family Justice Center of Erie County, Buffalo Sabres forward Andrew Peters stresses that hitting is never appropriate in an intimate relationship. His message is that while he may get into his famous scuffles on the ice – that’s where it ends – on the ice. Violence is never okay in the home.
Peters shares some statistics about domestic abuse and that victims have a place to turn for help – the Family Justice Center. His goal outside the hockey arena – put domestic violence on ice.
"Children Who See Too Much"
Next time you’re at a Buffalo Sabres home game, be sure to watch for the Family Justice Center’s (FJC)
new public service announcement (PSA), Children Who See Too Much. The PSA deals with child witnesses
of domestic violence and features Buffalo Sabres forward Andrew Peters and his wife Erin, who
is a school teacher.
The PSA urges families with children who are witnessing domestic violence to contact the FJC for help at (716) 558-SAFE. While their parents receive services at the FJC, children who have witnessed domestic violence may be seen by a full time Child Advocacy Center (CAC) counselor right on site. The CAC was able to open its satellite office at the FJC through three-year grants from the Buffalo Sabres Foundation and The John R. Oishei Foundation.
