Advisory Council Recruitment

Family Justice Center of Erie County Advisory Council

What is our purpose?

The Family Justice Center (FJC) Advisory Council (AC) will engage young professionals to support and promote the mission and vision of the FJC through volunteer opportunities, fundraising support, event attendance, advocacy and awareness.

Who are we?

The AC is as group of volunteers that assists the FJC in their mission. The AC has roughly 20 members, who serve for a term of two years, with a possibility for three total terms. We are a diverse group looking to expand by introducing new members from all backgrounds.

What do we do?

The AC has a wide variety of responsibilities including community outreach, fundraising, marketing, and direct interaction with the board of trustees and other FJC Executives. Members are expected to serve on special committees, which are focused on member education, new member recruitment, public awareness and social opportunities. Each member should support the AC’s collective fundraising efforts based on an annual goal set by our members. AC members seek to eventually transition to the Board of Trustees.

Who can Join?

  • Members must be between the ages of 21 and 35.
  • Prior to joining, each applicant must participate in a tour of the FJC.
  • A “DV 101” training session must be completed.
  • AC meetings are held four times a year and committee meetings vary.
  • A background check is required before membership.
  • All applicants must provide a resume and cover letter.
